José Feliciano - “Feliz Navidad”
from Feliz Navidad

José Feliciano is an incredibly prolific Puerto Rican singer, composer, and guitarist, and one of the few to find success in Spanish- and English-language music. For better or worse, however, he is best known for a simple and upbeat Christmas song.

This is the introduction to a ridiculous TV show I watch every week called La Familia P.Luche. It’s on before Sábado Gigante, so rest assured, I’m receiving maximum cerebral stimulation on Saturday nights.

The theme song is annoying and catchy and features the best line ever written in a television theme song (“Eres un insecto y hueles mal”) and IT WAS STUCK IN MY HEAD ALL DAY.

Familia peluche somos
¡Toda la familia muy unida está!
Familia peluches todos
Veremos cuanto tiempo van a soportar

… It’s still in my head. Oh, no.

Fonseca - “Lagartija azul”
from Corazón

This song is completely absurd (first hint: the title means “blue lizard”) and therefore hilarious. It’s also a ton of fun, musically. Exactly the kind of song you can get into regardless of language. Just do me a favor and listen to it once; you’ll see what I mean.
