This is the introduction to a ridiculous TV show I watch every week called La Familia P.Luche. It’s on before Sábado Gigante, so rest assured, I’m receiving maximum cerebral stimulation on Saturday nights.

The theme song is annoying and catchy and features the best line ever written in a television theme song (“Eres un insecto y hueles mal”) and IT WAS STUCK IN MY HEAD ALL DAY.

I was out driving around this afternoon when this song came up on my iPod in the car. It’s one of my favorite songs, especially when I’m driving, and it also happens to feel like a summer day where I live (a dry 70 degrees). It was a perfect moment.

There are other songs, not specifically composed for the purpose, that are strongly tied to the films they’re used in (Peter Gabriel’s “In Your Eyes” in Say Anything would be another example). I don’t think there’s an entire soundtrack like that, at least not for me, that isn’t Reservoir Dogs. Harry Nilsson’s “Coconut,” Joe Tex’s “I Gotcha,” George Baker Selection’s “Little Green Bag,” and Blue Swede’s “Hooked On a Feeling” all immediately make me think of that movie, even if I knew the song before I saw the movie.

And there’s not a single song with a scene as memorable as “Stuck in the Middle.”
