I am arguing about the Beltre signing with a Canadiens fan on Twitter.

Well, he’s also a Red Sox fan and a smart dude (despite being a Canadiens fan). But he just pointed to fielding percentage to indicate Lowell was better than Beltre last year and I AM GOING IN FOR THE KILL. So this is not going to end well, maybe.

Edgar being on 40.9% of 88 released ballots, that is. (41.6% of 89 now; I just checked.) Edgar Martinez against RHP: .308/.409/.508Edgar Martinez against LHP: .322/.443/.539 That’s not a mistake. Edgar hit RHP better than a lot of righty batters hit LHP. But he’s not a Hall of Famer. [eyeroll]
